Introducing BOMMA Lighting
BOMMA Lighting
Voltage is pleased to introduce you to BOMMA Lighting.
BOMMA was born in the historic Bohemian region, with centuries of glass making heritage. Rather than simply maintaining these techniques, BOMMA raised traditional craft to sophisticated mastery. Their glass makers are the best from among the Czech talent pool. Their talented artists are experienced and able to hand-blow crystal in monumental sizes. All BOMMA crystal lighting is hand-made, often redefining what is physically and technically possible.
BOMMA will be on display at Voltage by end of December.
SOAP
Varied colors, transparency and continuously changing shapes – the characteristic features of soap bubbles–inspired this BOMMA collection. When lighted, the metallic sheen of its surface transforms to iridescent and translucent, exposing its crystal character. The entire collection is produced using the technique of hand-blowing without a form. The seemingly perfect droplet of molten glass is given a unique shape, as well as a unique color spectrum.
Among Soap Collection’s main advantages are the options to create impressive compositions from a larger number of individual light fixtures or combining their color schemes.
PYRITE
The sculptural structures of minerals are among the most precious treasures from the very core of Earth, only revealing their optical magic once they encounter a source of light. By blowing a molten organic substance into a precise cold form, the skilled hands of our glass makers create a unique light fixture of elemental, yet perfect shape. The gleaming surface of this hand-blown crystal cube is enclosed from three sides by a polished metal component in either silver or gold tones.
The Pyrite Collection excels in both exceptional design and top-quality materials. Easily combined, it invites you to create your own unique lighting constellations.
METAMORPHOSIS
BOMMA and Rückl jointly introduce Metamorphosis, a new collection of crystal lighting by Rony Plesl. This collection combines the talents of these sister glass making brands – the breathtaking art of hand-cut crystal from Rückl, with exceptional technical solutions and the principle of light constellations typical for BOMMA.
Metamorphosis is the transformation of crystal into a stunning lighted jewel flawlessly presented in both craftsmanship and technical execution. The delicate geometric cut of the Metamorphosis Collection on hand-blown crystal comes alive with its internal light source, highlighting amber, clear or cigar colors. Just as stars from far-away in the sky, these seemingly small lighting objects fascinate us individually and become even stronger in groups.
BOUY
Buoys mark safe waters and guide sailors both day and night. When lit, their flickering lights in the distance signify a safe harbor, guiding a voyage through unknown territory. Similarly, the new Buoy Collection outlines a harbor of light in an interior.
The Buoy Collection was designed by Václav Mlynář, Creative Director of BOMMA. He found inspiration in the concept of buoys as orientation points that guide sailors day and night. His hand-blown crystal lights feature unusual light rods that run through the entire core formed by a monumental glass body. “The Buoy Collection seeks a balance between a classic light fixture and a light object, hovering at the edge of sculpture and product design,” Václav explains.
